Winemaker's Notes: 

My favorite wines to drink at home are Grenache based Southern Rhone Blends. It’s been a mission of mine to develop the California version that suits my palate as well as our gorgeous weather. This one makes me smile every time I open it, so I think I’m close.

It is a juicy blend of Grenache’s abundant red fruits, Mourvedre’s dark and brooding blue fruits, and a luscious bit of Syrah color and silky tannins on the finish. The result is a wine brimming with raspberry and chocolate flavors. It makes me so joyful to drink this wine, I hope you feel the same. It will continue to open and evolve it’s tannin structure for years to come.

Vineyard:

Organically farmed Shake Ridge Ranch sits at 1500 feet elevation in the Sierra Foothills, northeast of Sacramento. This site experiences warm days and very cool nights with an Alpine Influence dominating. The soil is a blend of Volcanic, Quarzite and Alluvial. This property has a majestic quality to it that make working with it a great pleasure. The viticultarist and owner, Ann Kraemer, is a master in her craft and a true wizard of the vine.

The Cantadora Woman: 

Janet Y. Spears is Chief Executive Officer of Metta Fund, a private foundation dedicated to advancing the health and wellness of San Francisco’s aging population. Janet was appointed to the San Francisco Disability and Aging Services Commission in 2019 and also serves on the boards of Northern California Grantmakers and the Giants Community Fund. She is dedicated to promoting equity in our aging community.
